About Cold Blooded by Nature

Right out of the hatch, I was born into nature.

An active herpetologist in training before I could even pronounce the word. Like many of us, my earliest memories were spent circling muddy pond edges with a dip net in one hand and a carrier tank in the other. I wandered wooded trails, flipping logs like pages in a field guide, always hoping for a glimpse of something scaled, slimy, or secretive. I'd observe quietly, sometimes bringing a new cold-blooded friend home for closer study—always with the promise of a safe return to the wild.

As the seasons passed, my curiosity didn’t cool off. It evolved.

What started as a fascination with the mysterious lives of reptiles and amphibians grew into a full-blown obsession with understanding their needs, behaviors, and habitats. I didn’t just want to keep reptiles—I wanted to keep them well. That meant learning, failing, improving, and constantly asking the question: “How can I do better?”

Cold Blooded by Nature is the result of years of passion, patience, and hands-on experience. It’s my way of sharing what I’ve learned with fellow keepers—from beginners just setting up their first tank to seasoned herpers fine-tuning their dream habitats.

Here, you'll find guides, resources, and inspiration rooted in science, field experience, and a deep respect for the animals we’re lucky enough to care for. My goal is to help keepers create enclosures that do more than just look good—they support natural behavior, enrich daily life, and honor the wild spirit of our cold-blooded companions.

From one reptile nerd to another—welcome to the lair.
